The Rare Humour came with the Presidential Debate on Social Media

If you thought that it was only Kenyans who followed the presidential debate then you are wrong. The debate was followed worldwide by people who adore Kenya as the economic power house in Africa. However elitist from Uganda keenly followed the second and final presidential debate for presidency as the countdown ticks 6 days.
I (@starkolix on twitter) constantly joined into various conversation that included bloggers who not only write about their country’s economy but also who believe in the cohesiveness that come along with the peaceful election.
Emma Kwezi Tabaro was the man to beat in the comics. For once one was forced to believe that the Makerere University student was a Kenyan literature student of Mohammed Dida. He tweeted “Maybe Kenya should just ask us for Aidah Nantaba to solve their land problem. Nantaba Comics we call it.”
Despite the emotive and the seriousness of the matter the social media was rather relaxed arena during the presidential debate. It is confirmed that even the white house in Washington DC was glued to the streaming perhaps they enjoyed the so- Called Dida theatrics.
A man who would just make people laugh despite the moderators saying that jeering and laughing was outlawed.
At one instance he asked, “do you think a thief would admit that they that they have stolen?”
Despite the seriousness of the matter the live joined the audience at home in laughing loud.
During the Land Reforms discussion Emma Kwezi tweet localized the debate to fit the Ugandan theatre.
“Hearing Uhuru is Kabalega's great grandson. Guess that gives him part of oil rich Bunyoro too.”
Other times he took issues rather literally, “Uhuru owns so much land, when you land in trouble you are on his property.” And this one requires a 3D understanding, “So #Uganda is #Land-Locked. Guess that makes it #Uhuru's property too.”
Just a show of how Uganda badly needs issue oriented politics the blogger says “KOT [Kenyans on Twitter] what are u talking about? Uganda has had the #Kampala Mayoral debate two years ago. Kenya setting a precedent”
I guess the blogger forgot the FDC presidential debate that saw General Muntu win the FDC presidency to succeed Dr. Besigye.
The issue about the Kenyatta family owning the so called half of Kenya did not go without theatrics. The blogger makes fan out of it saying, “Uhuru's Google maps always reads HOME!”
I suppose ‘Home’ meant statehouse Nairobi. Other humorous tweets from the blogger include
“Wonder if #Uhuru's child has ever been asked to draw #Kenyan map in class.... *would bring along #Uhuru's land title*”
“so Uhuru owns so much land ....including my ‘Slumberland’ ” I guess ‘slumberland’ is a mattress brand.
Kenya goes for general election on March 4. Chimp Media Limited will keep you updated on the homestretch to the Historic Kenyan elections which shall be the first under the new constitution.
