Trust is everything

It has been long since we shared a write-up. Today, I invite you we talk about the mission of the 72. They may have been sent on a journey of faith with just but instructions. The instructions were; they should rely on others for their survival. This maybe hard for some of us to contemplate but to Jesus, it was the way we are all sent.

Jesus sent his disciples 2 by 2 and never had he contemplated to send loners in the ministry. Why did he send them in twos? The most important element he wanted to articulate was trust, first to God and second to the person you are walking together with.

Trust is a vital component of any relationship. This is so because it makes us let down our guard just because we know someone got our backs. Trust is built on honesty, reliability, and vulnerability. Without Trust no relationship can grow leave alone flourish.

In journey of life we can build honesty through open communication which involves sharing of thoughts and feelings openly with each other. This can make the intentions and actions vivid to each other without a catch.

Most people find it hard to share their vulnerabilities for avoidance of blow back that itself can lead to utmost insecurity around their partners and friends. In politics, they say, vulnerabilities is never allowed as it can be weaponized in the future for political mileage. In relationships being vulnerable is one of the binding factor. When this is betrayed, no matter how strong the love is, it will come crumbling down like a house of cards.

Honesty can be through accountability that makes a partner take responsibility of their actions and consistency on the commitments.

Jesus told the 72 not to go from house to house but to remain in the same house they were welcomed in [cf Luke 10:7]. Jesus wanted to show those seeking relationship and intention to work in the lords vineyard need to first exhibit intentions to be reliable to others and secondly to themselves as they were sent in twos.

Reliability is crucial for trust. It is about dependable and following through on commitments. Jesus wanted to exhibit that the lord was true to his promises and was indeed with them until the end of age. How does that build trust in ones life? First, if you want to be that trusted avoid giving promises you know you cant keep, always be on time for set date and appointment. Communication is key, be actively talking about changes of whatever kind and issues. Sometimes we commit mistakes, own them up and make amends.

The final one is key, be consistent, it is important to establish routines and stick to them. Ever wondered how the catholic church has remained alive since 33AD? Some of you would say its because of the unbroken chain of apostolic succession. Partly, that’s true but the answer is the church has had a routine that has kept it alive throughout the ages. The church has been reliving the life of Jesus Christ through out a cycle of 3yrs, depicting the life of Jesus ministry.

The church has always broken each year into 3 parts, one is advent of the second coming of Jesus known as Advent which runs for 4 weeks running up to the nativity of our lord Jesus Christ, second is 34 weeks of the ordinary time that depicts Jesus teaching normally around Judea and finally the Lenten Campaign that spans for 6 weeks and Easter period that goes for 8 weeks.

The church has established that people trust what have relived and in so in 156 weeks a normal catholic would have read an entire Bible and understood Jesus as he is in the scripture and that would be hard not to trust in God and his ways. From the above example, consistency has held the catholic church together despite the insurgence of prosperity gospel and denominations.

The truth that catholic trust remain solid because they have held it dear that to be united people should have same faith, same teachings, same revelation and more importantly same Christ through whom we all participate in his baptism.

My dear brothers and sisters, let us remember that trust is everything and without it we can not walk together. Without trust we experience emotional distance. Without trust, jealousy and suspicion arise, without trust conflicts and arguments ensue. Without trust it becomes very hard to make decision together. Without trust we feel insecure or uncertain about some decisions we make together. Finally, relationship breakdown begins with lack of trust as in trust its everything.

Paul while writing to the Romans, told them that ‘in all things God works for the good of those who love him.’ [cf Romans 8:28]. We can take a lead that Love can be brought by trusting the one we love. Let us give thanks to the lord our God Forever. Amen.

  1. I will say that "Trust" is the foundation of every strong relationship. The write-up uses the example of Jesus sending his disciples in pairs to show that we need to rely on God and each other. Trust grows through being honest, always keeping our word, and sharing our true feelings. When people are reliable and open, healthy relationships will follow. Just as the Catholic Church remains steady through routine and shared belief, so too does trust keep people connected and able to move forward together through life. You did well๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  2. I love the fact that trust is everything. And there can never be trust among two companions without love . When i work alone on something that has to benefit many, its easy for me to forget that i am in a mission for many but instead of being happy and thanking the one who gave me the opportunity to show my capacity, i become proud and that can lead to my fall but with a companion in a mission i can never be proud because all through we will remind each other on being focused and with that we cannot work for fame but for perfection . So for perfection there must be love which leads to trust . be blessed bro for this great writeup its really educating .
