Raila Odinga ought to be Respected

When one said that “Kenya ina wenyewe” I think he actually meant Kenya belongs to very few bureaucratic people who fly government flags. When I see, one man named Raila Odinga, I see a true face of Kenya. So humble and devoted to have Kenya maintain the democratic space that pre existed in minds of Kenyans before 1991.
Like Kakamega Senator, Dr. Bonny Khalwale, I reiterate that you can wish Raila never exists but the bitter truth is that Raila Amolo Odinga has 5.3Million voters behind him. He also doubles up as the leader of Coalition for Reforms and Democracy and if you never knew, he is the leader of the party with majority of Members of Parliament in Kenya. And if that is not enough, Raila Odinga was voted by 26 out of the 47 counties in Kenya and therefore under all circumstances the politically motivated treatment at the JKIA by junior officers should be the last of their kind to happen.
Raila is a man who believes in democratic change and loosing in an election does not mean you are done. He is still the Former Prime Minister of Kenya and the harsh treatment by the Jubilee government was meant to bring his ego down but for once we may not sit down and see this country going back to dictatorship.
Trying to link the two issues, I am certain that the stand by Raila Odinga on the matters pending at the ICC maybe giving the new administration at the House on top of the Hill sleepless nights. Reason what was seen as criminal cases against 3 Kenyans has now turned out to be cases against government and a civilian as the attorney General has been adversely carried the blame of frustrating the efforts by the office of the prosecutor of the international criminal court. Adjoined in the cases as amicus curiae of the court the Attorney General has of late been acting strangely.
Raila Odinga’s stand was one of its own kinds as he reminded the new occupants of Harambee house that they created their own problems and therefore AU could not be of their assistance whatsoever. I wish to remind critics that nobody forced ICC to take the cases against the 3 Kenyans, it was us.
In 2011, former president and Raila Odinga begged parliamentarians to pass the local tribunal bill but they thought Raila was in the Waki envelop. Today what could have been worked on here in Kenya is now outside Kenya and it will never comeback as only one body can defer the cases back home.
It’s sad that harassing Raila Odinga may not make any impact on the same as we as Kenyans made choices that we must live up to. The wishes of the majority of Kenyans was Uhuru Kenyatta to become president, that is the case and Raila honoured it and he has continued to stress that ODM, Wiper and Ford Kenya are strongly in the opposition and will give constructive checks and balances.
It’s so shameful that South Africa gives the former Premier VIP treatment while we the Kenyans deny a man who led 5.3 million voters and other 20million plus unregistered voters such a treatment.
I wish to endorse the words of the Bonny Khalwale that the government might withdraw his security, his VIP status but anything happening to the former PM and VP Kalonzo Musyoka, Africa would be surprised what would follow. It’s sad that the Former PM is harassed while his Co-President Mwai Kibaki is living in luxury after he got handsome retirement package. We need respect for Raila Odinga as the leader of the largest party in Parliament. Just that
