Kenya, The future is Here

Kenya as a nation has come from far; we have evolved from a single party state in the 80s to chaotic transition to multiparty democracy in the early 90s. We have witnessed people disappear without trail after they put the government of the day on account. We were alive when we witnessed a regime change in 2002 and here we are. We have witnessed our media evolve from fear to authoritative and devolved to mere mediocre as we march on to the 2017 elections. The feeling of toppling KANU out power in 2002 after 39years was mutual. It was a great move and precedence in African democratic space. We as a nation were united and had a common goal and agenda. We wanted to make it right where we had been making it wrong during the elections.  In the aftermath, the face of Kenya greatly transformed and the economic growth was tremendous. 10 year after the 2002 elections, Kenyans deviated to tribal politics and Kikuyu backed Uhuru Kenyatta won the 2013 vote despite calls for the nul...

We are as we were before

Hey friends, it has been a while since I posted on this blog. I dont really have anything substantial to post about but well I cant really complain. A lot has happened and more is yet to happen as time goes by. Over the last couple of months, I have been undergoing transition in my life. Transition that requires one to pay utmost attention as it means making decisions that will be part of huge history. Believe me I like reading and writing. But over the Said period, I haven't got any time to do that. In early June, I lost a great friend and grandma Esther, in late July I lost my only brother and to me that was a triple blow as I lost my grandfather on the very same day I buried my brother. Buddies, it's October and that tells you we are close and advancing the festive season. The fiscal goals and dreams will be evaluated and at the end of the year.  And that is what matters most. I have decided to be aggressive and avoid soft landing and that is what matters today. In whate...

There's nothing to celebrate in 53rd Madaraka

Kenya today marks the 53rd year since independence. 53 years of self governance and a lot is yet to be achieved by the successive regimes.  Despite the promulgation of the new Constitution in 2010, the aftermath has be more or less the same and the main question lies here,  when is the change gonna Happen? In the recent past,  I have keenly followed the politics that has been on air.  The issue about Disbanding the electoral body,  Election day and wage bill are the new challenges that befall this nation.  The fight for the forth liberation of the country is slowly picking up after Uhuru kenyatta started to gradually convert this nation to be a police State. Kenya has never used Uganda as a role model until recently when we saw police use excessive force to try to stop demonstrators again the IEBC commissioners.  I find the debate rather quixotic and the subject rather contentious as the future of this nation lies entirely on the decisions we make to...

Kenya, Coming to birth, Not yet

Kenya is a country that has been severally described as an haven of peace. With that notwithstanding, the past few years have proved to be pivotal to the stability of this country. To be precise, Kenya is still under the York of black colonialism by the few who want to cling on power. In August 2010, we as a nation was reborn.  Kenya eventually replaced the independence constitution with a new set of laws that were best described as the way forward to getting to where we all wanted to. Kenya promulgated constitution that ensured that devolution was the way forward and with that notwithstanding, equity. Through the new law we ended years of presidential dictatorship and began a new Era of thinking and building the nation together. We were optimistic that we were near that Canaan.  Canaan that you and I will forever cherish but barely less that 5 years on,  IEBC is no longer an independent commission,  it's now a government branch. National police service is no lo...

Leicester City, Champions of improbability

Image
Eden Hazard goal against Tottenham in the 83rd minute In the fierce London derby at Stamford bridge confirmed that BPL title travels to East Midlands. From villains to champions, from 3rd tier to Top of the table and to Europe. claudio Ranieri wish was to win the Premier League finally is realised through a very cheap squad and now next on the list is making it to the UEFA Champions League. Nobody would have predicted that Leicester City FC could be the champions of England by the end of 2015/16 season.  Nigel Pearson fought hard to have them survive relegation battle last season and Ranieri  made them win their first ever BPL title. Now what remains to be seen is how will they defend the title they have won?  Will other big names revamp their squads to have winning team rather a clone of many stars who are egocentric?  As a gooner I rooted for Leicester City win at expense of My bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspurs. It's not over yet for Arsenal as we have a st....

Arsenal; Same Story different cast

When the barclays Premier League season kicked off,  Many Arsenal fans were certain that this was the end of the long wait.  Over the seasons that elapsed,  Gunners have not gone above 77point mark and this season was not exceptional. With 2 matches to go, Arsenal are third in the log with just 67points, 10 behind leaders and 2 behind bitter rivals Tottenham Hot spurs. Despite beating the Champions-Elect Leicester city FC,  Arsenal lost obvious matches against struggling sides and lost the plot on winning formula.  I joined Arsenal in 2005, shortly after winning the FA Cup against Manchester United I  Millennium Stadium in Cardiff Wales.  As a gooner I had to wait for whooping 9yrs and 11Months  to win my first silverware which was a summary of the nine years..  Arsenal went down 2 goals inside 9minutes in the FA cup 2013 final against Hull City AFC and spend the remainder of the Match leveling before finding the back of the net in the add...

Kenya way far behind the finish line

Political class in Kenya have always wanted to make the electorate think they are expandable, this has been evident in the recent past as the build up to 2017 polls gets underway.  We have leaders who think politics is a game of divide and rule,  others think that hand outs are a way of being popular among the electorate but others think making headlines for all wrong reasons wins them popularity.  For close to 6 months, I have been on personal retreat in makueni County.  Despite my silent mood over the period, I have learned that we may be way far from Canaan. We may keep on roaming in the wilderness of ignorance and idiosyncratic thinking. This is because of the trait that Kenyans have in mind that give us our murder and take your saint.  I have listened to a local vernacular station with a state connection and just realized that we may be far from the promised land full of milk and honey.  A popular radio presenter in government owned Mwatu FM,  h...
